Hard-working facilities staff at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have been recognised at a national award ceremony for going above and beyond to improve healthcare environments.

Staff at the Trust picked up accolades from the Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals (AHCP) at their annual ceremony last month.

Annemarie Hughes, a Waste Officer at BCHFT, took home the ‘Sustainability Award’ in recognition of her work to reduce waste and boost sustainability.

Her award celebrated her efforts to save money on furniture by upcycling items, while making sure they are appropriate and safe for patients to use.

Meanwhile, the Trainee Site Facilities Co-Ordinators, who work at hospitals across the Black Country, picked up the ‘Outstanding Team Award’.

Debbie Thompson, based at Hallam Street Hospital; Tracey Tustin, based at Bloxwich Hospital and Tracey Hadley, based at Heath Lane Hospital, were recognised for how they have flourished in their training and made a real impact at their respective hospital sites.

Louise Harrison, Inpatient Facilities Manager, who nominated her colleagues, said: “The staff were nominated by myself as they have all excelled in their fields of work.

“Since joining our team Annemarie has shone. She has definitely made her mark within the Trust and I have no doubt will lead us on to bigger and better things.

“Our Trainee Site Facilities Co-ordinators are true assets to our facilities management team and I look forward to seeing them thrive as their careers develop.”

Alison Lane, Head of Facilities, and national chair of the ACHP, presented the winners with their awards at the glittering ceremony.

Alison said: “As the national chair, it was an honour and a privilege to present awards to them all.”
