We give support to people over the age of eight years old with the following eating disorders: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and eating disorders not otherwise specified.

When someone is referred to us, we meet with them to see if we can be of help. If we can help, we will work with the person on a recovery programme. The length of the recovery programme depends on the complexity of the eating disorder. The programme is designed with three aims in mind: to reduce eating disorder symptoms, help with physical recovery, and encourage psychological change.

Within our team we have a dietitian, mental health nurse, occupational therapist, STR worker, and psychologist. We can give support in one-to-one sessions, group sessions, or both, depending on someone’s need. Support includes psychological approaches like psycho-education and cognitive behavioural therapy. We also provide practical and creative activities for someone to get involved in.

We also work with carers and health and community organisations to help people learn more about eating disorders. We try to involve carers and families as much as we can. Carers and families can help us make care plans, and can also be a part of the care plan. We also try to help families and carers learn more about eating disorders.

Sandwell & Wolverhampton:

Our referrals usually come from GPs and other primary care sources. Referrals can be made directly to us by completing the services referral document form, which can be accessed here.

Dudley and Walsall:

Our referrals usually come from secondary mental health teams, as we are working with a more limited service at the moment. A referral can be made by completing the service referral form, which can be accessed here.

If there is an emergency during our working hours on a weekday which are 9am-5pm, then someone in our team can take care of the emergency.

Our Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team can give emergency help on weekends and weekdays 5pm-9am where it is needed or via A&E departments.
