There are two Community and Recovery Teams in each of the Dudley and Walsall localities. The team will provide services to people who have a range of severe and persistent mental health problems and require ongoing treatment and interventions. They may also have substantial or critical social care needs directly associated with their mental illness.
The Community Recovery Service is primarily aimed at supporting you and your Carer in the community with your mental health needs. We aim to improve independence and access to community care, and increase stability in the lives of service users and their carers.
Depending on care cluster (care package) and your assessed need, we will offer intensive interventions to aid recovery and successfully move away from mental health services.
The team includes a number of different professionals working together, who have experience of helping people with mental health problems.
The team consists of:
- community mental health nurses
- social workers
- occupational therapists
- support staff
- consultant psychiatrists
We do not accept direct referrals from GP’s.
For a secondary mental health assessment a written referral by a GP is forwarded to the Early Acess Service. The referral is screened by EAS using the UK Mental Health Triage Scale.
Following the screening outcome the referral will be forwarded to the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment team should an urgent assessment be required or forwarded to our Community Recovery service.
We will conduct a routine assessment within 4 weeks of receipt of the referral and an outcome letter of assessment will be sent to your GP/Referrer.
If there is a mental health emergency outside of working hours or at the weekend access to services is via Dorothy Pattison Hospital. They can be reached on 01922 607000 who will transfer your call to our Crisis Team.
Our teams work Monday-Friday 09.00-5.00pm.
