BLACK Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is on the lookout for volunteers to help run a new Cosy Cafe in Dudley to help people amid the cost-of-living crisis.

The Cosy Cafe launches in the town next month and is a place for individuals and families to get a warm drink and food, have a chat, or simply have time to themselves, in a warm and friendly environment.

It comes as demand for such warm spaces has grown as communities in the Black Country face the growing cost-of-living crisis and surging energy bills this winter.

The project, which launches on Tuesday 6th December, is a collaboration between Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, advocacy charity Dudley Voices for Choice and social enterprise Lunch on the Run.

The cafe will be based in the DY1 Community Building in Stafford Street and will open every Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm to 6pm.

Volunteers are needed to help serve food and drinks and chat with people who come along. No experience is necessary and all food safety training will be provided.

Wendy Ewins, Head of Commissioning and Case Management for Learning Disabilities and Autism, said: “This winter could be very challenging for many people, especially the most vulnerable. The Cosy Cafe will provide safety and warmth in a friendly environment and could make a difficult day that bit easier for people across our communities.

“I am delighted the Trust is working with our partners in Dudley to provide this important project as part of our aim to build happier and healthier communities in the Black Country.

“With Christmas fast approaching, volunteering is a great way to help others and connect with your community over the festive season and beyond.”
