Nominations are now open for people across the Black Country to celebrate NHS staff that have made real difference to their lives, with the launch of the CARE In Action awards.
The exceptional work of staff across mental health, learning disability and autism services across the Black Country is being celebrated with a series of events at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The CARE In Action awards will recognise staff across Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton who have made the Trust a brighter place to work and receive care.
Both staff across the organisation and people who have been supported by Trust services are invited to send in their nominations.
Four events will be held across the boroughs this autumn to recognise and celebrate Black Country Healthcare staff who have embodied the Trust’s values of care, accountability, respect and empowerment.
The nomination form is quick to complete, nominators simply need to share the name of the person or team they are celebrating and why they would like to nominate them.
Whether it was outstanding care to set the road to recovery, or a kind word and listening ear during difficult times, the Trust would love to hear from people who want to recognise the staff who helped them to build happier and healthier lives.
The events, which are funded by sponsorship, follow last year’s awards which saw four local, friendly events celebrate staff in the heart of the communities they serve. Nominations from the public are a new addition for 2025 to highlight the impact that Black Country Healthcare staff make every day, in hospitals and community settings across the Black Country.
Manisha Patel was recognised at last year’s awards by her colleagues for the impact she has made in growing the Trust’s charity, Black Country Brighter Lives. Thanks to Manisha’s hard work, the charity has been able to support more projects that enhance the experience of patients and their carers, from therapeutic gardening projects for inpatients to supporting a once-in-a-lifetime sailing trip for people who have experienced psychosis.
Manisha said: “I was honoured to be nominated for an award; it was lovely to be recognised by my colleagues. Through my work with the Trust charity, I see first-hand what a difference our staff and teams make to the lives of patients, their families and carers across the Black Country. Making a nomination for a CARE In Action award is a fantastic way for people to show their appreciation. It also means so much for staff to be recognised by their community.”
Anyone who wishes to submit a nomination is invited to complete the form at: CARE In Action nomination form for patients.
Nominations will close at 5pm on Friday 1st August. After this, all nominees will be invited to attend one of the four events and will receive a certificate.
