Find out more about exciting research that is taking place across Black County Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHFT) at a free event this month.

The Research and Innovation Team at BCHFT will be showcasing their work at their ‘Inspiring You’ event at the University of Wolverhampton on Wednesday 17 January.

Research is a critical part of work at BCHFT so that service users can access new and innovative treatments, at the cutting-edge of healthcare provision.

The team will be sharing how their work is contributing to the future of research in the Black County and how they collaborate with universities and NHS Trusts across the country to ensure that service users, carers and staff are given the opportunity to be involved in high quality research.

Current projects taking place demonstrate the breadth of topics researched by the team, across the Trust’s services in mental health, learning disabilities, autism and children, young people and families. They include topics such as the genetic links to anxiety and depression; antidepressants in preventing depression following a first episode of psychosis; the role of intensive behavioural support in quitting cigarettes and eye movement therapy to help adults with learning disabilities with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Laura Jenkins, Research Delivery Manager at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Our ‘Inspiring You’ event is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the vital research that is taking place across the Black Country, to ensure our communities have access to the most innovative treatments.

“It promises to be an interesting day with talks from the Research and Innovation team, Research Study Sponsors and people who have a lived experience of working with us.

“You might be surprised by the variety of research topics we are exploring here in the Black Country.”

‘Inspiring You’ takes place on Wednesday 17 January, 9.30am to 4pm at the Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills, Grimstone Street, University of Wolverhampton.
