Some exciting development plans are coming to Edward Street Hospital in Sandwell, part of Sandwell’s older adult mental health services.

Following almost £50m worth of investment as part of a national programme to eradicate dormitory wards (wards where there are shared sleeping arrangements), Black Country Healthcare is developing plans to refurbish and upgrade the facilities at Edward Street Hospital.

Plans include building an additional unit that will provide modern, en-suite accommodation for patients, and developing a therapies hub to support treatment and recovery.

This really is a positive investment in older adult mental health services in Sandwell and will make a significant difference not only to the patient and staff environment, but also to the quality of care the Trust provides.

We are seeking the views of staff, patients, carers, partners and the public to help shape some of the plans. You can read the engagement document for more information and complete the feedback form on our website.
