Walk For Autism takes place this week to mark World Autism Acceptance Week 2023.

The fundraising challenge encourages people to walk 10,000 steps from Sunday 26 March to Sunday 2 April.

There are no organised walks to attend, instead participants can do it at their own pace, in their own time, either solo or as part of a team to raise awareness and funds to support autistic people.

Our very own David Stocks, who works as a Suicide Prevention Community Development Worker at BCHFT, is taking part in the challenge.

David explained:  “I was diagnosed late in life with autism last year. It was like receiving a map I never had throughout my life to make sense of the world around me.

“I realised I had been masking my true self and trying to fit in, as many autistic people do. Every autistic person is different, but every autistic person faces the same barriers in life. This is why I am doing the walk for autism. Please sponsor me to help autistic people and the barriers they face.”
