Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to welcome Richard Wheeler as the organisation’s new Chief Finance Officer.

Richard joins the Trust with two decades of experience working in the NHS, during which time he has worked in a range of financial roles.

He is no stranger to taking a leadership role in delivering high-quality mental health services as his career has included seven years as Finance Director of Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

As a chartered accountant, Richard also has experience of working in the private sector.

He is set to take on his new role in the Black Country at the beginning of October and he is looking forward to getting out and about and meeting colleagues, patients and communities that the Trust supports across Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton for mental health and learning disability services.

Richard said: “I am looking forward to meeting people to listen and learn about the organisation. I am keen to work with clinical and operational teams, my professional team and other enabling services to co-produce change and decision making to support us all in providing high quality and efficient services to the people of the Black Country.”

Marsha Foster, Chief Executive Officer at Black Country Healthcare, commented: “I am really pleased that Richard will be joining our team as Chief Finance Officer. With his experience both inside and outside the NHS, Richard brings a wealth of insight to the role. I look forward to working together to deliver the best possible services for our communities across the Black Country.”

Richard will replace Georgina Dean who is leaving the Black Country to take on the role of Executive Director of Finance at North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, following five years of service at Black Country Healthcare.

Marsha added: “I would like to express our gratitude to Georgina Dean for her fantastic contribution to our Trust and wish her all the best in her new role.”
